Maroon 5 is an American pop rock band that originated in Los Angeles, California. The group was formed in 1994 as Kara's Flowers (while its members were still in high school) and originally consisted of: Adam Levine (lead vocals, guitar), Jesse Carmichael (guitar, backing vocals), Mickey Madden (bass guitar) and Ryan Dusick (drums).
V (pronounced "Five") is the fifth studio album by American pop rock band Maroon 5. It was released on August 29, 2014, by Interscope Records as the follow-up to their fourth studio album Overexposed (2012). V was Maroon 5's first album to be released through Interscope after the band's previous label, A&M Octone Records, transferred them along with most of its artists to Interscope. The album also saw the return of keyboardist Jesse Carmichael after his absence from recording, touring and promoting Overexposed. V debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200, selling 164,000 copies in the first week.
