Доп. информация:
"Lost Like A Star" composed for performances of 'The Drifting View X' with Japanese dance troupe Gekidan Kaitaisha, Tokyo, March 2003. "The Final Option" is a live recording ABC TV Studios, Melbourne, Feb 3 2006.
Oren Ambarchi is one of those musicians who can simply do no wrong, every time his name crops up on something I know I'm going to have to shell out my hard earned cash to buy yet another flawless piece of droning bliss. 'Lost Like a Star' is the Aussie experimental feller's latest opus and is as good as it gets - two gigantic pieces of merciless drone, showing just the kind of jaw-dropping tones the man can extract from the humble electric guitar. The first side is a more restrained affair, a piece that makes you recognise the subtle shifts in tone as Ambarchi pushes and pulls the drone as if it was putty. Tones drift over tones and everything is kept to a restrained minimum as Ambarchi gives the sounds and philosophies time to embed themselves into your consciousness. This is a musician who can truly be regarded as a master of his craft, I can't think of anyone else who exerts more effortless control over his set of instruments, there is a the sense that Ambarchi has reached a Zen-like point of understanding with his craft and the resulting recordings reflect this quite magically. The second piece here 'The Final Option' is one of my favourite recordings that Ambarchi has turned his hand to. Reflecting his touring and collaboration with US drone-metal superstars Sunn O))), the track starts in a typical Ambarchi-like style, with clipped drones cascading slowly like bells but it quickly builds into an aggressive, powerful droning metal monsterpiece. Thick, powerful bass forces itself through walls of static and harmonic tones waver before shattering the dense fog of noise - this is more powerful than most metal records could ever hope to be, and it's shocking such a noise is the work of merely one man. Limited to 650 copies and on vinyl only (!) this isn't going to last very long so if you want to make sure you get a copy you'd better act fast... - Boomkat
