Описание: Главный герой - британец, волшебник Джон Константин, заядлый курильщик, мошенник, который совершает поступки для высшего блага (что спорно) и сомнительные с точки зрения нравственности. Обычно хитрит и обманывает, и часто в процессе наживает больше врагов чем побеждает. Несмотря на то, что иногда Константин борется за спасение человечества, все равно он остается манипулятором и вообще человеком, с которым опасно дружить, так как жизни и души людей рядом с ним всегда подвержены опасности вовлечения в его злоключения. Души умерших друзей преследуют его, по отдельности или в окружении других призраков.
По мотивам сюжета нескольких выпусков комикса (##41-46 "Dangerous habits") режиссёром Фрэнсисом Лоуренсом на студии Warner Brothers был снят фильм "Constantine" (в русском прокате - "Константин: Повелитель тьмы"). Премьера состоялась в 2005 году, в роли Джона Константина снялся Киану Ривз. Впоследствии на основе фильма были выпущены комикс-адаптация и видео-игра.
Дополнительный интерес, в особенности для опытных комиксоманов, комиксу придаётся за счёт частой смены состава авторов (художников и сценаристов), в связи с чем в выпусках разных периодов можно обнаружить совершенно разную стилистику изображения.
