Powerwolf - немецкая power metal группа.
В 2003 году братья Чарльз (Charles Greywolf) и Мэттью Грэйвульф (Matthew Greywolf), игравшие до этого несколько лет вместе в stoner rock-формации Red Aim, задумались о собственном проекте. Так появились Powerwolf.
Вскоре к братьям присоединились ударник Стефан Фюнебр и клавишник Фальк Мария Шлегель, но для полного состава группе не хватало подходящего вокалиста, тем более, что металлические опыты "волков" требовали особо тренированного вокала. Выручил музыкантов их давний друг и коллега по Red Aim, мастер оперной экспрессии и хулиганских текстов, эксцентричный специалист по мистификациям и сценическим псевдонимам Карстен Брилл (в мире Red Aim - Dr. Rogers). Команда с удовольствием приняла старого приятеля, и не изменивший себе Карстен влился в состав Powerwolf под новую "легенду" и с именем Аттила Дорн.
Благодаря любви Дорна к литературным легендам о вервольфах, группа создала дебютный альбом, «Return in Bloodred», используя их в качестве основы для большинства текстов.
В 2007 году появился на свет второй диск, «Lupus Dei», повествующий о главном герое – волке, его преодолении жажды крови и пути к просвещению. Отдавая должное атмосфере альбома, Powerwolf записывали часть материала в церкви, построенной в 12-м веке.
Третий альбом под названием «Bible of the Beast», сведением которого вновь занимался небезызвестный продюсер Фредрик Нордштрём, вышел 27 апреля 2009 года. В записи принял участие хор, состоящий из студентов и выпускников консерватории классической музыки в Саарбрюккене. Сами участники группы говорят об этом альбоме как о самом тяжелом в их музыкальной карьере.
В 2011 году группа работает над новым альбомом Blood Of The Saints, который записывался в пяти студиях и двух церквях! В итоге, более 70 человек было задействовано в эпическом звуковом полотне. Гитарист Мэтью говорит об альбоме следующее: "Аллилуйя, он готов! После бесчисленных дней борьбы, мы наконец-то завершили работу над новым альбомом. Трудно поверить, что крестовый поход во имя Записи подошел к концу, однако держа в руках итоговый результат, мы более чем гордимся и удовлетворены тем, что получилось. Мы обещаем вам чертовски отличный материал настоящего волчьего металл безумия!"
В 2013 году вышел новый альбом группы с названием "Preachers of the Night". На этом диске саунд коллектива стал более мелодичным и временами даже лирическим (однако, без утраты фирменного "волчьего" драйва). Усиление влияния классики XIX века и традиционного хэви 80-х особенно заметно на вышедшем чуть позже Preachers of the Night макси-сингле The Rockhard Sacrament.
