Youssou N'Dour (Юссу Н’Дур [jusun ̩ˈ du ːʀ]) - певец, перкуссионист, композитор и актер из Сенегала (родился в 1959 году). Один из самых известных певцов африканского континента, к которому пришла мировая слава после написания и исполнения композиции 7 Seconds в дуэте с Neneh Cherry (Нене Черри) в 1994. В 2004 году Rolling Stone назвал его «самым известным в Сенегале и на большей части Африки живым исполнителем».
Youssou принимал активное участие в создании и развитии стиля популярной музыки, известного как Mbalax. Снялся в нескольких художественных и документальных фильмах. Написал музыку к нескольким фильмам.
Mbalax (или Mbalakh) – национальная популярная танцевальная музыка в Сенегале и Гамбии. Этот стиль основан на слиянии западной популярной музыки (джаз, соул, латина, рок) с музыкой sabar - традиционной барабанной и танцевальной музыкой Сенегала. Слово mbalax произошло от названия часто используемого сопровождающего ритма, используемого в sabar.
