If John Cafferty is the poor man's Bruce Springsteen, then Henry Lee Summer is the homeless man's John Cougar Mellencamp. A completely undistinguished heartland rocker most notable for sporting a mullet that could blanket a grain silo, Summer is nevertheless painfully earnest, and his records possess a certain something -- let's call it "passion" -- virtually absent from the pop charts ever since he vanished from the mainstream ranks. Summer's second Epic effort I've Got Everything is also his best, a two-fisted roots rock smorgasbord without a whiff of pretension. Sure, it's a little too glossy and a smidge too sappy, but if lunchbucket anthems like "Got No Money" and "Hey Baby" don't grab you by the short hairs, you need to renounce your American citizenship right here and now, pinko. Henry Lee Summer, this Bud's for you.
