In an exciting new union, Stuart Matheson and Matt Laws from Binary Finary, and the pioneer of Australia's oldskool rave revival ‐ Sasha Vatoff, have joined forces to relaunch BINARY FINARY in 2010 with their first new headline show at ID&Ts Sensation in Melbourne, Australia on New Years Eve.
Binary Finary have long been a household name amongst dance music enthusiasts as the makers of the soaring trance anthem "1998", which became the ever first instrumental electronic track to enter the UK Top 40 charts. It was subsequently remixed by Paul Van Dyk and played by the likes of Tiësto & Armin Van Buuren, who helped send it all the way to number 1, and a decade later it's still one of the greatest uplifting trance tracks ever to hit dancefloors!
Binary Finary took a break in 2000 and Stuart Matheson travelled to Australia with his studio equipment in '03 ‐ around the time the rise of software synths that was happening around the world. He was newly inspired and returned to the UK to reunite with his music partner Matt Laws for a Binary Finary tour of Europe, and in 2005 they released a digital‐only album "The Lost Tracks", made up of B.F. pieces that had never seen the light of day.
In 2006 Stuart returned to Sydney where he became a rubber‐stamped local and then a husband to an Australian wife, who he had first laid his British eyes on in '03. Stuart also remixes under his own name, and has recently completed a remix for ARIA nominated Bertie Blackman.
Matt Laws has been building a reputation in Ireland offering artists advice and management as well as a taking a hands on production role, quietly forging new talent through a small project label since the release of "The Lost Tracks". Matt has been Investing heavily in computer based music since the success of '1998' to expand upon passion for sonic sculpture and audio detail. More recently, he's become a father, so he's able to dedicate studio time and effort to producing the tools for Stuart and Sasha to take out live, in between taking care of his son.
Sasha Vatoff's Reunion parties have become the leading face of Australia's rave movement, reviving the hardcore rave sounds of the early nineties at huge rave spectaculars across the land. Vatoff was recently assigned the envious task of compiling and mixing Ministry of Sound's ode‐to‐the‐era triple CD, "Rave Anthems", which is regarded as the most comprehensive cataloguing ever of the various house and techno anthems which surfaced in warehouses from 1990 to 1996, and set the scene for the sounds of parties and festivals today.
This year Sasha was handed the coveted DJing spot at the legendary Big Day Out Sydney and has played at events such as Global Gathering, Gatecrasher, Godskitchen, Defqon 1 & Future Music Festival.
Stuart & Sasha will soon unleash a full live show that bursts onto the stage in an explosion of technology, while Matt Laws supports them with their studio productions which will keep their Live shows fresh while they are on tour. The music is best described as a fusion of more classic‐styled trance with the latest in progressive electronica.
