* New “Boosterpack 2″ engines.
For quite some time, we have been running a “Public Beta 4.3″ of DVD Catalyst 4, with one of the biggest changes the new scan and conversion engine. The people who have reported back to us in regards of the beta mentioned that everything worked better for their conversions with it, so with this version, we replaced the “old” Boosterpack 2 engine with the new one. Because we used v4.3 as a version for the Beta, we made this version v4.4.
* Updated support shortcuts.
With the new
www.dvdcatalyst.com and
www.tools4movies.com website, most of the documentation on the website has been moved or replaced. While we did implement some redirection methods for many of those (if you visit an old link, it will take you to the new one), in the v4.4 version of DVD Catalyst we pointed them to the correct locations.
* New profiles.
With the new website, we also added guides for numerous new (and older) devices, and added matching profiles for those in DVD Catalyst. In total, we added over 600 new device profiles, making the total more than 2500, about 33% more than before. Profiles of note are of course the new Samsung Galaxy devices, but we also created profiles for popular media center solutions such as XBMC, Plex, Tversity and PS3 Media Server.
* Faster start-up, less memory needed.
With all the new features, functionality and device profiles we have added to DVD Catalyst 4 over the last year or so, start-up time and memory usage of DVD Catalyst itself has been causing some annoyance for people who are using older computers for their conversions, so with this version, we spent a considerable amount of time on reducing this.
We re-organized the way DVD Catalyst starts, and optimized the installation files, and as a result, application startup time is considerably faster, and memory usage, especially during conversion, is considerably less
* New application installer.
The original installer for DVD Catalyst 4 was functional, but looked a bit outdated. With the v4.4 update we also introduced a new application installer that is more up to par with 2013.
